Ascension RCA Group was a major sponsor of the BNI Metro team that picked 1st Prize for most funds raised for charity at the 2014 edition of The Great Auckland Bed Race in the Auckland Domain on 13th April 2014.
As the defending champions from the inaugural running of The Great Auckland Bed Race in 2013, we knew it would be a tougher challenge this year with every man and his dog wanting to beat us. In 2013 we picked up 4 of 6 titles/trophies.
The beds were designed and built by a team from BNI Metro, a business networking group co-founded by Grant Raynor over a decade ago. A running team of 6 was compiled from BNI Metro and included Messiah Studio (this website developer) and clients of Ascension RCA Group. To this one passenger, from our charity Totara Hospice, was pushed around a 3.2km course in 12m 43s to take line honours. However, this was only good enough for 3rd place overall amoung 16 teams. 2nd place was only 3s ahead - so close and yet so far!
With the support of family, friends, and clients of Ascension RCA Group, our BNI Metro teams raised $20,000 for Totara Hospice to help those to face the end of their life with dignity.
